Guama

Ok, so we don’t really hate the campo.

Even though our plans for Monday got canceled and we didn’t get the interview we were hoping for, we did have a productive Monday in one of our case study villages and got to hang out with our new friend/impromptu tour guide, “Gallego.”

On Sunday night Gallego stopped by our hotel with a tropical fruit I had never seen or heard of – Guama.  He showed us how to open it by cracking it over our legs and then peeling back the hard outer cover to reveal the soft, white pulp around big seeds.  The texture is kind of like damp cotton candy with a sweet taste and subtle hint of nutmeg.  I have never tried anything like it! Yum.
